Our Ranking Methodology

We used our proprietary formula to rank the institutions on this list according to a rating from our formula. This formula takes into account each school’s yearly tuition rate and graduation rate. Public universities usually have different tuition rates for in-state residents and non-residents, so we only use the in-state rate. Our formula takes the relevant tuition rate and adds a multiplier that is equivalent to the percentage of students who enrolled but did not end up graduating. This is an example: ABC College has a yearly tuition rate of $50,000 and a graduation rate of 50%. Its rating would be 75,000 (50,000 x 150%). Lower ratings will result in higher rankings in our articles.
