Our Ranking Methodology

We use a straightforward formula to rank the schools on this list. This formula considers two statistics: each school’s yearly tuition rate and graduation rate. Some schools have different tuition rates for in-state students and non-resident students. If this is the case for a particular school, we only considered that school’s in-state tuition rate. To come up with each school’s rating, we took its in-state tuition rate and added a multiplier equivalent to the percentage of students who did not graduate from the school. For example, School A has a yearly tuition rate of $20,000 and a graduation rate of 80%. School A’s rating would be 24,000 (20,000 x 120%). Lower ratings will help a school obtain a better ranking on our list.
