Our Ranking Methodology
Our formula creates a rating for each school using two factors: yearly tuition and graduation rate. Some schools (usually public schools) charge varying tuition rates for in-state and non-resident students. We only looked at the in-state tuition rates for these schools. To come up with a school’s rating, we took the tuition rate and added a multiplier that is equal to the percentage of students who did not graduate after they enrolled at the school. Here’s an example: School A has a yearly tuition charge of $30,000 and a graduation rate of 50%. Its rating would be 45,000 (30,000 x 150%). Low ratings are better than high ratings.
