As a replacement of the Big Data track, the Ph.D. in Advanced Data Science at the University of Washington Seattle is a program that exists to educate the next generation of thought leaders and researchers of data science.  Participants of this program will focus their thesis work on building and using advanced data science tools.  As an innovator of new data science tools, graduates will be the ones designing and testing these tools for use worldwide.  Participants will still take courses in data management, machine learning, data visualization, and statistics.  As part of this program, all students are required to complete an internship where they gain hands-on experience and practical knowledge of big data.
