Our Ranking Methodology
The schools on this list are ranked by a formula that considers two statistics: yearly tuition rate and graduation rate. Some of the schools on this list are public institutions, and (like most public institutions) they charge higher tuition rates to non-residents than they do in-state students. We only considered the in-state rates for these schools. To come up with each school’s rating, we took its yearly tuition rate and added a multiplier that is equivalent to the percentage of enrolled students who did not end up graduating. For example, a school with a yearly tuition rate of $40,000 and a graduation rate of 90% would have a rating of 44,000 (40,000 x 110%). Lower ratings result in better rankings on our list.
