What Are The Benefits of an MBA?

One of the best benefits of earning an MBA is the ability to think creatively to solve real problems that companies face every day.  A student in an MBA program will understand the global perspective as it relates to business, and learn creative strategies to try to facilitate smoother business operations.  An MBA can give a student the ability to bring valuable strategy, techniques, and practices to any company, strengthening that company’s position in their respective industry or market.  In general, having an MBA makes employees more marketable and valuable, and many people who have an MBA in conjunction with a Bachelors or additional Masters degree see higher salaries.

What Is the Outlook and Salary?

An MBA is a general business degree that can be applied to many different industries.  People who have an MBA can work in any field, but are commonly found in Supply Chain Management, Marketing, or Business Analytics.  The outlook for students who have earned an MBA is generally good, as companies often seek MBA graduates to fill management and leadership positions.  Because the career paths for MBA graduates is so diverse the salary range tends to vary.  In general, an MBA graduate can expect to make about $20,000 more per year compared to a salary without an MBA.  On average, MBA graduates make $115,000 per year.

Methodology

In order to rank the best MBA programs in Massachusetts we have come up with a ranking system based on allocated points.  To establish a base point system we used two different metrics.  The first metric used is the cost per credit.  Schools that listed their tuition cost in a yearly sum had their tuition tallied using the following method.  Yearly tuition costs were divided in half, assuming for a two semester academic year.  Once divided in half, the tuition is then divided by 12, assuming 12 credits in one semester.  Schools that had a lower tuition cost per credit were given a more favorable ranking, and thus a higher amount of points.

The second metric that was used to calculate ranking points was the overall enrollment size in the particular MBA program.  MBA programs that had a lower enrollment size were given more points, and thus a more favorable ranking.  The points accumulated from both the tuition score and the enrollment score were added together giving a total amount of points.  Schools with the highest amount of points were given the most favorable ranking.
