Our Ranking Methodology

We used a simple formula to rank the institutions featured in this article. Our formula utilizes two important statistics per school (yearly tuition rate and graduation rate). Some institutions on this list are public and charge varying tuition rates to resident and non-resident students. We only considered the resident tuition rate in this circumstance. Our formula takes this yearly tuition rate and adds a multiplier that is equivalent to the percentage of students who matriculated at the school but did not end up graduating. Example: ABC State University has a yearly tuition rate of $12,000 and a graduation rate of 80%. It would have a rating of 14,400 (12,000 x 120%). Lower ratings are good in our system.
