3. Better Your Communication Skills
We can assume that because you want to be in business, you already have some top-notch communication skills. But it doesn’t hurt to sharpen them. Practice these skills at school so that you are prepared when you get out into the real world. Here’s a pro tip: make the mistakes while you’re still in school. A big mistake in the corporate world might mean you losing your job.
4. Better Decision Making
More to the point of making mistakes, running real-life scenarios in your business school allows you to make better decisions as a business person in the future. Plus, classes in leadership and management allow the average business person to get a new perspective: the perspective of the person making the decisions. Going to a business school allows you to not only make quicker, more decisive decisions. It also makes sure your decisions are better informed as well.
5. It’s Best For If You Want To Start A Business
You might know that you want to start your own business and you may already have an idea of what you want to do. But what do you know about taxation? Accounting? What about profits, margins, advertising, and human resources? Where are you going to learn these things?
Well, that’s where business school comes in. An entrepreneurship degree is the one you’re looking for because it’s going to teach you everything you need to know about starting a business from the ground up. If you’re looking for people to talk to about starting a business, then New York is the place to be. There are small shops everywhere, and it’s a paradise for anyone who wants to get a first-hand account of what it means to start a small business in the United States today.
6. The City
Speaking of New York and its people, going to school in New York is a once in a lifetime experience. It’s probably one of the best places to go to business school. First and foremost you have the city itself, the economic epicenter of the United States. If you’re looking to build powerful connections in the world of business, look no further than New York. And in every industry, there are jobs for people with business degrees and there are some nontraditional MBA jobs, too. Let’s take a closer look at some of the most popular options.
If you like numbers and pursue an accounting degree and you’re well on your way to becoming a CPA, the good news is you can get a job pretty much anywhere. The primary focus of an accountant is to present and interpret financial records and finances in general. This analysis can be for a company, a person, or a group of people. You may also be doing taxes, preparing financial reports, and even offering some help in keeping down costs.
If you completed a degree in human resources because you like to interact with people, there is a whole world of opportunities for you in the business world. Pretty much every industry, company, or organization needs a human resources division. This department is not just to help confused coworkers through awkward relationships or new hire paperwork. Human resources is the backbone of any good company. They are sometimes in charge of payroll, arguably the most important part of any worker’s day, and they also provide training for new employees and support current employees with benefits, tax forms, applying for leave, and helping with career development. Some of them also put together employee newsletters to keep everyone informed of policy changes.
Management is not a position for the weak of heart. It takes a lot of responsibility. Not only are you leading a group of people in the right direction to make the company money, but you’re making a lot of the important decisions. Also, you probably shouldn’t expect a management position right out of the gate. A lot of companies want to test your merit before giving you such an important position, and they prefer MBA students or those who have graduated from an MBA program. In most cases, it takes years of experience after business school to be considered for a management position. If you succeed, then there will be no one to thank but you. The same goes for if you fail, unfortunately.
If you’re an ideas person and know what to do in all kinds of situations, particularly when it comes to money, then you might want to consider being a consultant. Consultants are the people who use their business expertise to advise companies or individuals about what to do with their money. You have a lot of options when it comes to being a consultant too. You can choose to consult for many different industries, making sure that every day is a new adventure with new challenges to face. Or, you can choose to hone your skills in one specific industry, making certain that, eventually, you’ll be the best you can be and become a sought-after consultant in your industry.
If you’ve had enough of the behind-the-scenes jobs and want to be out in the field making the company that’s given you a chance as much money as possible, then sales is the work for you. The salesperson does just that – they sell. How and what they sell differs based on where they work. In some industries, you will sit in an office making cold calls all day. In other industries, you travel door to door. Some places may have you fly all over the world, making intense sales to investors in foreign countries. You’ll need confidence to be a salesperson, a confidence you can build in a New York business school.
If you’ve seen ads on TV, and though that you can do better, a job in marketing can be your chance to prove it. These are the Don Drapers of the world. The people who decide how a product is to be presented to the masses. Marketing jobs are in every single industry in the world. Every industry has something to sell, and they all need people to show them how to sell it. You’ll have to be creative to make it in the marketing world, and you need to be up to date on all the current trends. Our Ranking Methodology
Our rankings are calculated using a formula that considers both the yearly tuition rate and graduation rate of each school. Some institutions (usually public institutions) charge higher tuition rates to non-resident students than they do to students who live in the state that houses the school’s main campus. For these institutions, we only looked at the in-state tuition rate. Once we ascertained the correct tuition figure, we added a multiplier equivalent to the percentage of students who did not graduate. For example, University A has a yearly tuition rate of $40,000 and a graduation rate of 90%. University A’s rating would be 44,000. Lower ratings are good, higher ratings are bad.
