Our Ranking Methodology

We use a simple formula to come up with a rating for each school. Our formula utilizes two vital statistics for each school, namely yearly tuition rate and graduation rate. The institutions that charge different rates to resident and non-resident students only had their resident tuition rate considered. Our formula works by taking the resident tuition rate and adding a multiplier equivalent to the percentage of students who enrolled but did not end up graduating. For example, a school with a yearly tuition rate of $20,000 and a graduation rate of 50% would have a rating of 30,000 (20,000 x 150%). Lower ratings result in better rankings in this article.
