Our Ranking Methodology

We came up with these rankings by using a formula to create a rating for each school. Our formula uses two vital statistics per school, namely graduation rate and yearly tuition rate. Several of the schools on this list are public institutions that charge varying rates for their in-state and non-resident students. We only considered their in-state tuition rate. Our formula takes the tuition rate and adds a multiplier that is equivalent to the percentage of students who enrolled in the school but did not end up graduating. Here’s an example of how it works: ABC College has a yearly tuition rate of $20,000 and a graduation rate of 90%. Its rating would be 22,000 (20,000 x 110%). Lower ratings are better than higher ratings.
