Our Ranking Methodology
Our rankings are calculated using our proprietary formula. To be more precise, our rankings are determined by the ratings each school gets from our formula. Our formula takes two statistics into account, namely the graduation rate and the yearly tuition rate. The tuition rate is weighted more heavily than the graduation rate Two of the institutions on this list (University of Maine at Augusta and University of Massachusetts – Lowell) have different tuition rates for resident and non-resident students. We only looked at the in-state tuition rate for these schools. Our formula takes the yearly tuition rate and adds a multiplier that is equal to the percentage of students who enrolled at the school and did not end up graduating. Example: University A has a yearly tuition rate of $10,000 and a graduation rate of 50%. Its rating would be 15,000 (10,000 x 150%). The schools in this article are ranked from lowest rating to highest rating, as a low rating is desirable.
