What is a bachelor’s degree in business management?

What are the different types of business management degrees?

Business management classes will help you develop the skills you need to navigate challenges throughout your career. A bachelor of business management can also prepare you for taking the next step in a business management education career path: a online Master’s in Business Administration program, or an MBA.

While a bachelor’s degree in business management or business administration can prepare you for entry-level jobs in marketing, sales, finance, accounting, and other fields, an MBA helps you build the qualifications to pursue more advanced leadership positions. However, the first step in your business career is a bachelor’s degree in business management, and if you’re ready you can explore the options we’ve ranked for you below.

What is the difference between a business management degree and a business administration degree?

These two types of degree programs are very similar. Business management courses focus on the management of a business as a whole, while business administration focuses on specific titles and job duties within a business. For example, a bachelor degree in management program may cover the day-to-day operations of running a successful business, including:

  • developing and streamlining processes
  • putting together teams
  • communicating with executives
  • managing and leading staff

A business administration degree is more focused on the different job roles within businesses, such as accounting, marketing, or management, and will often allow you to choose a specific concentration and narrow your studies on a particular career path.

What are some business management degree jobs?

A business management degree is versatile and can prepare you to work in a variety of fields and industries, including accounting, finance, sales, and marketing. After building a solid foundation in business fundamentals, many programs will allow you to choose a concentration where you can focus your studies on a particular career or industry. For example, the first half of your program may be in General Business Management, while the second half of your program could be in Business Management: Supply Chain Management.

There are many options available if you’re interested in a bachelor in business management, and we know the search can be overwhelming. That’s why we’ve ranked 25 schools with programs in business management based on two factors: tuition cost (lowest is best and tuition comprised two-thirds of our ranking score) and enrollment (highest is best and enrollment comprised one-third of the score). Take a look at our list of business management degree programs below!

Our Ranking Methodology

In order to come up with our rankings, we used a formula based on tuition and enrollment rates for each school. We took per semester tuition rates (in-state where applicable), and if tuition was listed per credit, we multiplied by 12 to calculate a per semester cost. Tuition rates were weighted by a factor of two and comprised two-thirds of the score, while enrollment rates comprised the remaining one-third.

After sorting first by the weighted tuition rate and then by enrollment rates, we assigned points to each school, and added these points to get a final score for ranking.
