Our Ranking Methodology
We used a straightforward formula to rank the schools on this list. First, we ascertained each school’s yearly tuition rate. Many of the public institutions on this list charge higher tuition to non-resident students than they do to in-state students. For these institutions, we only looked at the in-state tuition rate. The other statistic we looked at was the school’s graduation rate. To come up with each school’s final rating, we took the yearly tuition rate and added a multiplier equivalent to the percentage of enrolled students who did not graduate. This gave us a final rating, which we used to rank the schools. Lower ratings actually result in better rankings on our list.
