    How We Calculated These Rankings

To calculate these rankings, we looked at two statistics. First, we considered each school’s yearly tuition charges. For institutions that charge in-state students different rates than non-resident students, we only looked at the in-state rates. Next, we looked at each school’s student-to-faculty ratio. To come up with each school’s final rankings, we multiplied their yearly tuition rate by their student-to-faculty ratio. For example, a school with yearly tuition of $10,000 and a student-to-faculty ratio of 15-1 would have a rating of 150,000. A lower rating is better than a higher rating.
