The University of Richmond campus has over 1,000 computers available to all students. With this many computers on campus, it means that for every 3 students there is an available computer. Because of this abundance of computers, and the ability to offer Wifi throughout the campus, 85% of University of Richmond classes allow for an online component that lets students work collaboratively.
Technology Learning Center
The University of Richmond also provides students with a Technology Learning Center which includes a lab of digital cameras, high definition video cameras, a photo studio, recording studio, and video editing workstations.
Harvey Mudd College

Harvey Mudd College is one from the Claremont College organization. There are only 800 students in attendance each year; but, with such a low class size, students are able to have access to more resources and opportunities.
Software Design Program
At Harvey Mudd College, computer science and engineering students get to be a part of the Harvey Mudd “Clinic.” This clinic is a year-long capstone course where students create and design their own software program.

Much like the University of Richmond, Wake Forest University has provided students with access to computers on campus. There are nearly 5,000 computers on campus, which means that for every student there are 1.08 computers available at their disposal.
Wake Forest University is also connected via smartphones; they have created an app that streams social media and updates 24/7. There are important calendars and events within the app that can alert students, parents, faculty, and alumni of important items to remember.
Carnegie Mellon University

Invention to Company Connection
Carnegie Mellon University is a Center for Technology Transfer and Enterprise Creation; this center connects inventions and technologies created by students on campus to companies that can choose to sell them to the public for a profit.
Entertainment Technology Center
Carnegie Mellon University has coupled the College of Fine Arts with the School of Computer Sciences to offer a program called the Entertainment Technology Center; students in this school are able to learn the new technological advancements in the ever-growing fine arts industry.
Georgia Tech University

Toolkit for Blind & Deaf
The Ross Center for Disability Services at the University of Massachusetts in Boston just recently implemented a system that allows students with hearing and sight impairments to be able to actively participate in classes and lectures.
The toolkit created by the Ross Center for Disability included transcribers, video captioning, Braille keyboards, and more. Because of the success with this toolkit, Caption First now offers it as a service.
Lone Star College System

Lone Star College is one of the fastest growing community college systems in the nation. It is located all throughout the northern portions of Houston, Texas area, and has an annual economic impact of $3.1 billion.
This University created their own private cloud network that was able to serve all 6 campuses with a reliable network and save the Lone Star College System nearly $1.4 million in costs.
Utah State University

Utah State University has “smart classrooms” that use Panopto lecture capture technology. Panopto lecture capture technology allows professors to record their lectures. Recent studies have demonstrated that recorded lectures improve student understanding and engagement.
Not only does USU have smart classrooms, but smart furniture as well. With furniture from Steelcase and Izzy+, classrooms are now referred to as “pods,” and are designed to encourage collaboration with other students, and the professor.
Notre Dame University

The IT departments at Purdue University have enabled students to use social media-related systems to communicate before, during, and after classes. These smartphone apps allow students to ask questions; develop study groups; and capture, share, and watch lecture videos. Purdue has found that these applications have helped with student engagement, collaboration, and all-together student success.
University of California Los Angeles

The UCLA Health program has made some of the most technological advancements of our time. Here the first Robo-doc, EVA, was created and used. Medical students at UCLA are given opportunities to learn from some of the most successful and innovative professors; they are able to work with robotic surgery procedures, and even robotic telemedicine.
California Institute of Technology

NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory
The California Institute of Technology, or CalTech for short, manages the Jet Propulsion Laboratory for NASA, and own the global network of astronomical observatories and research facilities. Needless to say, students get a lot of hands on opportunities when it comes to science and engineering at CalTech. This small school has produced 32 Nobel laureates among past and present faculty, students, and alumni.
University of Missouri at Columbia

When talking about “smart classrooms” the University of Missouri must be on the list. The school has implemented the program Tegrity into their classrooms, which is a software that captures slides, audio, video, instructor’s pens, interactive whiteboards, and more. All of which students can then access via the internet with smartphone, tablets, or a computer.

Oxford University has created a podcasting service that shares university talks, lectures, and activities. The University also provides technology services for student’s personal computers, as well as access to OxFile, a file exchange program that allows students and faculty to exchange larger files via the internet.

Athabasca University is known for excelling in distance learning. Athabasca has created systems for desktop virtualization, synchronous web conferencing, research collaboration, tutor portails, course management, and more. All of these technologically advanced features have made the distance learning program at Athabasca one of the best available. Athabasca University now services over 38,000 students worldwide.
Technical University of Dortmund

The Technical University of Dortmund is known for its research opportunities in physics, electrical engineering, chemistry, economics, and especially robotics. The University has even created a robotic soccer team, the Dortmund Droids. The Dortmund Droids won 2nd place in the 2002 RoboWorld Cup and 3rd place in 2003.
